IN THE MIX
Icelanders first discovered Kitchen Aid’s sturdy
mixer in 1937, and it has been the most popular
household tool in the country ever since. As with
many countries around the world, the versatile
mixer remains one of the most sought-after wed-
ding and housewarming gifts in Iceland. The
new Artisan model has a more powerful motor
and a bigger bowl than before, and is now avail-
able in the Duty Free Store in Keflavík Airport.
It is also sold at tax-free prices in Reykjavík at
Einar Farestveit & Co. Borgartún 28.

COMPLEX
The Balvenie DoubleWood is a smooth and mel-
low single malt of beautifully combined flavors
– nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a
delicately proportioned layer of sherry for a long
and warming finish. The Balvenie is a 12-year old
single malt Scotch whisky, which gains its distinc-
tive character from being matured in two woods.
Over its period of maturation, the spirit is trans-
ferred from a traditional American oak whisky cask
to a Spanish oak cask that previously held sherry.
Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting
single malt: the traditional casks, having previously
held bourbon, soften and add character, while the
sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavor.
Available at the Duty Free Store, Keflavík Airport.
