Westfjords Heritage Museum
The Westfjords Heritage Museum in Ísafjördur is housed in one of four 18th
century buildings which together form the oldest grouping of houses in Iceland.
Unsurprisingly for a fishing town like Ísafjördur, fish is the focal point of the mu-
seum. However, there’s no chaotic mess here, only a neatly organized collection
of maritime artifacts.

Museum Hrafnseyri
Hrafnseyri in Arnarfjördur is the birthplace of Jón Sigurdsson, the figurehead of
Iceland’s struggle for independence. The museum is dedicated to the memory of
this national hero and a replica of his childhood home is on display. The impres-
sive waterfall Dynjandi is only a half hour drive away.
