Iceland review - 2012, Side 46
44 ICELAND REVIEW ICELAND men are exposed to nature’s elements and Iceland’s capricious weather. “Over the years, we saw all kinds of weather, from sunshine to snow storms, and I remem- ber just walking endlessly, loaded with cameras, with the taste of blood in my mouth. But working hard is what it’s all about—the best pictures usually are the result of the worst weather. These men are so resilient. There was never any whining or complaining, just powering through. One of my favorite photographs shows Þórður lying on the ground having walked through a blinding blizzard. But he never quit, even after falling off a cornice. And “working hard is what it’s all about—the best pictures usually are the result of the worst weather.”
