The stallion Spuni (Spin) of the farm Vesturkot is the best of the best, having earned the score of 8.87, the highest ever given to an Icelandic horse, at Landsmót 2011. Here, he is enjoy- ing the freedom of the endless summer night at Sandhólaferja farm, South Iceland. Spuni is the offspring of Álfasteinn (Elf-Stone) and Stelpa (Girl), both also among the best and noblest horses that inhabit planet Iceland. Spuni’s color is jarpur (bay), one of more than 100 colors the breed comes in, like dun, palomino, pinto, and roan. The Icelandic horse is a five-gaited breed, known for its ability to cross rough terrain. As well as the typical gaits, the Icelandic horse has an additional two; a four-beat lateral ambling gait known as tölt, and a pace called skeið, which is fast and smooth and used in pacing races. And Spuni is the master, fast as a Ferrari. Fr ee do m
