10 ICELAND REVIEW autumn art REykjavík aRt MUsEUM through january 6, 2013 Erró has always been a true friend of reykjavík. in 1989, he gave the city a major collection of his works, some 2,300 pieces of art. the collection has since increased and reykjavík art Museum now owns nearly 4,000 works by Erró, spanning the artist's career from childhood. there are four exhibitions for you this autumn at hafnarhús, reykjavík art Museum, all running through January 6. First and foremost is Erró and the seven teapots by the new honorary citizen of reykjavík, the fourth person to ever carry the title. the museum’s other current exhibitions are the Power of Passage, the focal point of which is the large-scale ‘Cloth Collapsion’ by Jóhann Eyfells, Ha, an installation by sara Björnsdóttir, where she breaks up the immutable space of the exhibition room, and news From the Island by romanian artist dan perjovschi with cartoons and indoor graffiti. We want to translate these extraordinary international literary works and authors and introduce them to new audiences worldwide,” stated Jon Fine of amazonCrossing at a press conference at the Frankfurt Book Fair in october 2011, where iceland was the guest of honor. amazonCrossing announced its intention to publish ten icelandic titles as English-language eBooks. the series was launched with the publication of the Greenhouse by auður ava ólafsdóttir and hallgrímur helgason’s the Hitman’s Guide to Housecleaning in 2011. they were followed by the Flatey Enigma by Viktor arnar ingólfsson, season of the Witch by Árni Þórarinsson and On the cold coasts by Vilborg davíðsdóttir.
