British music festival all tomorrow’s parties (atp) was
held for the first time in iceland june 28-29, 2013,
at Ásbrú, the old u.s. naval air station near Keflavík
international airport. headlined by nick Cave and the
Bad seeds, the festival attracted up to 3,000 attendees
and is set to become an annual event. in addition to
a host of concerts by musicians such as Mugison,
múm, hjaltalín, amiina and snorri helgason—not to
mention sQÜrl with u.s. film director jim jarmusch
as a member—the festival included screenings of
old films at the base’s andrews theater selected by
jarmusch and British actress tilda swinton. organizers
declared the festival a great success, in spite of nick
Cave falling off stage during his performance of ‘jubilee
street,’ the second song of the concert. the rocker
was back on his feet in no time and delivered a five-
star performance. perhaps the icelandic idiom fall er
fararheill is true, a fall leads to success? ESA
