As always, this year’s DesignMarch featured numerous exciting
events and installations, bringing Iceland’s flourishing design
scene into focus. Here are five fine examples.
photographer Íris dögg einarsdóttir
and stylist erna Bergmann work with
the interplay of the words ‘water’ and
‘woman’; a raw yet romantic reflec-
tion of femininity and childbirth at
their exhibition entitled ‘// W //’ at the
reykjavík Museum of photography,
open until April 29 2014.
Master furrier eggert
Jóhannsson and Haute cou-
ture designer Helga Björnsson
presented their new collection
of furs and accessories from
icelandic shearling. The collec-
tion will be on display in the
showroom at eggert feldskeri.
The Scarab jewelry collec-
tion draws its name from an
ancient egyptian talisman.
The jewelers at orriFinn
have created a world that
reflects the mystical atmo-
sphere of the Scarab beetle,
the symbol of eternal rebirth.
Jewelry and accessories designer
Hlín reykdal welcomed guests
to her new workshop at Grandi,
reykjavík’s trendy fish packing
district and advised on what
colors suited them best.
Hildur Yeoman presented her new
clothing line, which is inspired by
her grandmother Yulia, a new Jersey
housewife who abandoned her fam-
ily to travel the united States in the
company of motorcycle outlaws. The
individual’s choice to reject a bour-
geois lifestyle is the fundamental
theme of the collection.
