Iceland review - 2014, Side 54
52 ICELAND REVIEW iceland a triP to the Past Burstafell farm and folk museum, 21 kilometers beyond the fishing village vopnafjörður, is an exceptionally well-preserved old turf build- ing dating back to the year 1770 and owned by the national Museum of iceland since 1942. The farm was lived in until 1966. Getting there, and seeing and feeling the iceland of yesteryear is very easy. We start at lækjartorg square, in the heart of reykjavík, and take 8 kilometers (5 miles) on road 49 nesbraut east to ring road 1. Then we turn north, and continue for 426 kilometers (265 miles) until it is time to turn north towards Húsavík on road 85, just before arriving at Goðafoss waterfall. now, we are almost there, only 294 kilometers (183 miles) left on road 85 before we reach Burstafell, just 728 kilometers (452 miles) from reykjavík. Bon voyage.
