ICELAND REVIEW 73
Almost all guests visiting Iceland touch down at Keflavík
International Airport, located on the Reykjanes penin-
sula, 50 kilometers (30 miles) west of the capital area.
Reykjavík is the beating heart of Iceland. Not only home to
the administration, here you will find major museums, restau-
rants from every corner of the world and bars where you can
mingle with the locals before blissfully falling asleep at one of
the city’s countless great hotels. The next morning, after a visit
to an outdoor geothermal swimming pool—there are 18 of them
in the Greater Reykjavík Area—you will have a tough question
to answer: east or west? The best help available to get the right
reply is vedur.is, the Icelandic Met Office’s official website, which
has regularly updated five-day forecasts.
