Iceland review - 2014, Side 79
ICELAND REVIEW 77 restaurants, galleries and the Suðurnes Sci- ence and Learning Centre—a great introduc- tion to Icelandic natural history and not only for the kids. Also the magnificent Attraction of the Poles exhibition, dedicated to the work, life and death of the French medical doctor, explorer and polar scientist Jean- Baptiste Charcot. The scenic route along the shoreline from Hafnir to Sandgerði recently opened, making the journey part of the plea- sure. Then there is Vogar, a municipality with an envious spot in nature, surrounded by the unspoiled countryside and great hiking trails—not least to the Stapinn bird cliffs and the iconic Keilir cone volcano; a fairly easy climb with rewarding views for miles around. The ride from the airport to Reykjavík may run along the Reykjanes peninsula, but that is not Reykjanes. Not really. Give Reykjanes a closer look and you will be richly rewarded! visitreykjanes.is
