60 ICELAND REVIEW
SPort
Hof, ridden by agnar Þór Magnússon, was
given the record rating of 10 for tölt
and 8.60 for skills. Unusually high rat-
ings were also given on the main day of
the competition, July 5, when Árni Björn
Pálsson on Stormur from Herríðarhóll
won the tölt competition with 9.39 and
Þórarinn ragnarsson on Spuni from
vesturkot won the a-class Gæðingakeppni
with 9.30, proving the best in all five gaits.
“another highlight was that Glódís rún
Sigurðardóttir on Kamban from Húsavík
won the children’s competition for the
third landsmót in a row—that has never
happened before,” adds Hilda. experienced
stallion vilmundur from Fet received the
2014 Sleipnir trophy for fathering success-
ful offspring, whose parade in honor of
their father was a sight to behold.
The next landsmót will be held at
vindheimamelar, Skagafjörður, in north
iceland around the first weekend of July
in 2016. *
While rating performances, traits like spirit and character
are taken into account as well, the focus lies
on the horse, rather than the rider.
