But the start has not changed; with, what, 37 waterfalls, if i remember correctly; along the first part of the route.” The Fimmvörðuháls trail is divided into four parts: the first is called fossaleið (‘the waterfall way’), and is 7 km long. after the walking bridge, there are two ways of tackling the sec- ond part. one is to continue along the Skógá Sandwiched between two glaciers is one of Iceland’s most popular hiking routes: the 25-km (15-mile) Fimmvörðuháls trail, from the waterfall Skógafoss to the nature reserve of Þórsmörk.
