8 ICELAND REVIEW Art ‘Fjöðrin’ (‘Feather’) is a giant mural by Reykjavík artist Sara Riel, located in Reykjavík’s Breiðholt suburb. ‘Fjöðrin’ consists of 43 birds from 23 different species, which come together to create a unified image of a feather. Breiðholt is the most multicultural neighborhood in Reykjavík, which inspired the artwork. Sara describes the suburb as a place “where individuals with different back- grounds have come together to create a community.” Last year, the city council decided to bring more art to the area. in total, ten end walls will receive artwork by artists including theresa Himmer and even two by the legendary erró. ‘Fjöðrin’ is located at asparfell 2-12. * tHe end WORDS AND PHOTO By Páll StefánSSon.
