Geology – Linguistics – History
The Breiðdalssetur Center is housed in the oldest building in the East Icelandic
village of Breiðdalsvík where the local co-op store was operated from 1906 - 1957.
The Center facilitates earth science and literary research focused on East Iceland,
as well as exhibitions on the region’s geology, linguistics and local history.
Exhibitions include the work of well-known geologist Dr. George P.L.Walker,
writer and linguist Dr. Stefán Einarsson from Höskuldsstaðir and the history
of the house and surrounding area.

CAFÉ NESBÆR · NESKAUPSSTAÐUR
Opening in 1998, Café Nesbær is located in a historic building from 1907 in the heart of
Neskaupstaður in the East Fjords. A one-stop-shop, in addition to a diverse menu and wine
list, the café offers free Wi-Fi and carries handicrafts, including lopapeysa woolen sweaters,
yarn, gift items and flowers.
