1) First of January 1968=100. A new base was adopted on January 1,1981 and again on February 1,1984. Published once
every quarter until August 1983, but monthly thereafter. 2) First of October 1975=100. The values of the index are here
shown in the beginning of their period of validity, but they measure building costs during the first half of the month before. A
new index was adopted in March 1983, being 100 in January 1983. The index is calculated monthly from September 1983,
but quarterly before that time. 3) A composite index of the cost of living (%) and the building cost (%) indices, that measure
prices during the month before the index becomes valid. Calculated monthly, for the first time in June 1979. The index is used
in the indexation of financial assets. Figures in brackets show calculated values before the index became formally valid. 4)
All employees. 5) Trade weighted index of the priceof 17foreign currenciesin terms of lcelandic krónur. 6) Averageint-
erest rates on bank bonds at end of period.
