which is held in London, England,
every second year. The Canadian dis-

of the best displays. It is reported that
Manitoba whitefish were renamed
“Silverfins”. Whether that name will
be adopted in Manitoba and elsewhere
in Canada remains to be seen.

For many years Scandinavian groups
at Edmonton, Alta., in addition to
their own activities individually, have
made a practice of gathering twice each
year for a Scandinavian celebration
jointly. These are the Icelandic, Nor-
wegian, Danish, Swedish and Finnish
organizations. Meanwhile each has,
among other things, celebrated its na-
tional days and feasts, the Icelanders
the Thorrablot for example. Ten years
ago they jointly began gathering funds
to finance the erection of a Scandinav-
ian centre which all could use in-
dividually and/or jointly for meetings,
