LOGBERG-HEIMSKRINGLA, FOSTUDAGUR 27. JANUAR 1978 7 MINNING - HARALDUR HALLDÓRSSON Fæddur að Pebble Beach 28. desember 1916 dáinn 7. októ ber 1977 í Vancouver B.C. Haraldur átti til fullorðins ára heima i Siglunesbyggð víó Manitobavat.n. — Auk starfa við heimabú, vann 'hann árujn saman hjá Ás- mundiFreeman, sem lengi var stórtækur athafnamað- ur við fiskveiðar og timbur- iðju. Hjá honum var HaraJd- ur i miklu afhaldi og hafði Ásmundur oft á orði hve frá bær hann hefði venð bæði með gangþol og vinnuaf- köst. 1948 fluttist Haraldur á- samt móður sinni og sumum systkinum til Richmond BC, og vann þar í samstarfi að heimili þeirra uns móðir hans féll frá 1961. Eftir það, til æfiloka, mun hafa verið fremur einmannalegt um hann, enda síðustu árin ekki vinnufær vegna afleiðinga af slysförum og hnignandi heilsu. Að útför hans lokinni 14. október fór fram lík- brennsla í Vancouver Crem- atorium. Systkini hans látin á und- an honum voru Karl og Ingi björg. — Á lífi eru Margrét Sæmundsson, Árborg; Svan- hildur Liiy Sahiston, Saska- toon; Arnold, Anna Tubbs og Carol Gíslína Patterson í Richmond, Leo og Daniel í Vancouver. g VILBORG (Villo) BRYNJÓLFSSON Peacefully, on November 17, 1977 at the Betel Home, Sel- kirk, Mrs. Vilborg Hildur Brynjólfsson, aged 79 years, late of Riverton, Man. Dear- ly beloved mother of Sylvia Sigurdson of Riverton, Sol- veig Riddell of Vancouver and Grimsi Brynjólfson of Riverton; “Amma” of Glenn Sigurdson of Winnipeg, Ela- ine Sigurdson of Winnipeg and Eric Sigurdson of Ham- ilton, Ontario. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 22 at MESSUBOÐ FYRSTA LÚTERSKA KIRKJA JOHN V. ARVIDSON. PASTOR SUNDAY SCHOOL at 9:45 SERVICE at 9:45 and 11:00 at the Riverton- Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Schenk of- ficiating. Interment fol- lowed in the Riverton Com- munity Cemetery. Mrs. Brynjólfson came to Canada from Iceland in the year 1900 at the age of one year, with her parents Sól- veig Grimólfsdóttir and Jón Jóhannsson Hoffman, and two sisters and one brother. They settled on Hecla Island (Mikley). She married Már- us Björgvin Brynjólfsson in 1920, and they continued liv- ing on the Island until 1941 when they moved to River- ton. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sigridur Thord- arson of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband in 1973, her father in 1918, her brother Pjetur in 1920, her brother Grimolfur Olafur in 1926, her mother in 1946, and her syster Elinborg Hallgrimson in 1958. Winnipeg, Mr. Fridholm Valdimar Benedictson, aged 83 years, a life-long resident of Riverton, Manitoba, dearly beloved husband of Kristin Benedictson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton- Hnausa Lutheran Chureh with Rev. Gary Schenk officiating. -Interment will follow in the Community Cemetery. Mr. Benedictson, who was born in Riverton had lived there all his life. He was em- ployed as a clerk in the Si- gördson-Thorvaldson store for over 30 years and later was with the Sigurdson Fisheries and Monarch Construction as bookkeeper. In his later years he operated an upholstery business. He was a life member of his church and sierved in the choir for over 60 years. He- also served over- seas with the Canadian Forces during the First World War, and throughout his life was an avid hockey fan. Besides his wife” he leaves surviving, three sons, Donald and his wife Sella of Winnipeg, Raymond and his wife Joyce of Riverton, Gilbert and his wife Fran Of Edmonton, daughter Anna and her hus- band Fred Wark of Selkirk, 15 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. He was predeceased by his son Allan w'ho was killed in Germany in 1945 while serving with the Canadian Forces, and lalso his brother Ben, two sis- íters. Kristjana Sigurdson, Si- gurbjorg Freeman, and step- brother Sigurbjorn. The pallbearers will be Doug Johannson, Greg Saluk, Jim Pyper and grandsons Alan Benedictson, Tom Wark and Donald Benedictson. Flowers are gratefully de- clined. Those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Riverton-IInausa Luther- an Church Memorial Fund. + OLAFUR JON FREEMAN On December 10, 1977 at his brother’s residence, Olafur Jon Freeman, aged 68 years, of Vogar, Man. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Luther- an Church, Ashern, with Rev. K. IL Reitze officiating. Inter- ment in the Vogar Cemetery. Oli was born October 2, 1909 at Reykjavik, Man. He lived there with his parents until 1921, when they moved to the Siglunis district where Oli farmed until his sudden pass- ing. Surviving are four brothers, Siggi of Gillam,, Man., Guettir of Vogar, James of The Pas and Helgi of Winnipeg; one sister, Asa (Mrs. J. Fjeldsted) of Lundar; also 52 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Asmundur in 1950, his mother, Gislina in 1953, a brother, Adolf in 1973. Pallbearers will be six neph- ews, Charles Freeman, Edwin Freeman, Jim Freeman, Rick Fjeldsted, Freeman Fjeldsted and Joe Fjeldsted.
