RAGNAR TORFASON'S 90TH - friends and relatives on Sept. 5,
Ragnar Torfason celebrated his 1982, when a surprise dinner was
90th birthday among a host of held in his honor at the home of
John Einerssen, formerly of Wynyard, now practising his art in
B.C. as well as in Texas and Alberta, drew many interested spec-
tators to his demonstration of the craft during the Wynyard and Dis-
trict Annual Arts and Crafts show sponsored by the Quill Plains
Regional Arts Council last Fri. and Sat. at the Civic Centre. John
Einerssen is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Oli Einarson Wynyard, Sask.

the buffet dinner, Ragnar was pre-
sented with a large birthday cake
topped with 90 candles. The
remainder of the afternoon was
spent visiting and reminiscing.
Here to be with their father on
this occasion were Dr. Wilmer Tor-
fason of Lethbridge and Louise and
Bruce Dilling of Winnipeg. Ac-
companying Louise and Bruce were
their children, Grant and friend
Sonja Spletzer of Winnipeg and Lee
and Grant Steski of Russell, Man.
Out-of-town guests guests were
Ragnar's sister-in-law, Betty Gillis
with Bob and Joy Gillis and Doris
Johnson of Wynyard. Also attending
were a number of Ragnar's
nephews: Siggi and Alma Nordal,
Ingvar and Brian Nordal of Foam
Lake; Gunnar, Helen, Joanne,
Wilmar and Howard Nordal of
Leslie; Leo and Anita Nordal of
Kindersley, and a niece, Emily
Kreugar and son, Rob of Foam Lake.
Ragnar was born in Iceland on
Sept. 5, 1982 and immigrated to
Canada in 1903. He moved to
Wadena in 1946. He had lived here
until Áugust 1981 when he took up
residence with his son-in-law and
daughter, Matt and Grace Tryhuba
on their farm near Kuroki.
Ragnar still enjoys good health, al-
though he has been confined to a
wheelchair for much of the time this
past year.
