í fjörunni Magnús fimm ára stóð.
Það fossaði í æðum hans
sækongablóð.
Brotsjó a skerjunum hafaldan hlóð

Readers of Lögberg-Heimskringla,
some of them at least, know that in
September of this year, Heimskringla
will celebrate its centennial birthday.
A committee has for some time work-
ed diligently at preparing her birth-
day. A special edition of Lögberg-
Heimskringla is being prepared, but
that will be the first publication
following the break in August.
Writers in North America and
Iceland have been cohtacted and
asked to contribute an article, a short
story, a poem, etc. to the birthday
issue. These people have been told
that their contribution will only be
accepted on the condition their
pieces have not appeared in any
other publication before. At this

this an appealing source of informa-

picture of their society and the forces
that have shaped it.

stage, however, it is too early to
discuss the proposed edition.
But readers are urged to send sug-
gestions. Noteworthy ideas will
carefully be examined before deci-
sions will be made on their value. It
must be stressed that the paper is not
advertising for material; it is merely
announcing it will pay attention to
readers' suggestions and ideas.
This historical issue will in all
likelihood be 12 to 16 pages long,
without any advertisements.
