Friday, 7 February and ongoing
Winnipeg, MB: Take the opportu-
nity to practice your lce|andic lan-
guage skills and enjoy the smor-
gasbord at 6 pm the first Friday of
each month at the Scandinavian
Centre. You dp not have to be flu-
ent in speaking lcelandic but you
do have to be willing to try. Those
that speak the language well are
more than willing to help with pro-
nunciation, vocabulary and, of
course grammar.
Also the lcelandic Canadian Frón
will be screening lcelandic movies
(with English sub-titles) tentatively
slated to begin 7 Feb at 7:30 pm.

dence uncovered at l’Anse aux
Meadows in Newfoundland. Full
Circle: First Contact chronicles
humankind’s exodus from Africa
and into the New World. Some
would turn left and some would
turn right, but they would meet one
hundred thousand years later on
the east coast of Canada.
With more than 250 artifacts,
photos, scale models, artist’s
impressions and maps, Full
Circle: First Contact shakes our
previous understanding of our
past.

to Minnesota. The exhibit features
Vikings art, artifacts, and historical
objects on loan from museums
throughout Europe. This repre-
sents one of the best collections of
Vikings artifacts ever assembled in
one place.

Mineapolis, MN: Þorrablót is
Backl! We wiil be flying food in
from lceland — hundreds of
pounds of rúllupylsa, hangikjöt,
lifrapylsa, harðfiskur, pottbrauð,
sviðasulta, hákarl, hrútspungar,
cod, smoked salmon, shrimp, and
herring. In addition to these
lcelandic delicacies we will have
the traditional four accompanying
vegetables and will offer chicken
— all meticulously prepared by
Scandinavian Chef Anna Lena.

Winnipeg, MB: Þorrablót 2003,
the traditional lcelandic mid-winter
feast will be held at the
Scandinavian Centre, 764 Erin St,
