Sunday 20 June Palo Alto, CA: The lcelandic Association of Northern California celebrates lceland’s National Day at Rinconada Park. A group pic- nic location with shade next to the children’s playground has been reserved for the event. The easiest parking is the lot for the Junior Museum and Zoo on 1451 Middlefield Road or along Hopkins Avenue. Bring something for the grill to barbeque and some beverages if you like. Spotlight film: 4 p.m. Arc- tic Dreamer— an exploration of the fascinating life of the controversial Arctic anthropologist/explorer, Vilhjálmur Stefánsson, this documentary indudes the fresh perspec- tive of Stefansson's six forgotten Inuit grand- children. One of the most famous men of the early 20th century, Stefansson is best known for discovering the “Blond Eskimo" of the cen- tral arctic. He was one of the first explorers to adopt the Inuit lifestyle, living off the land. The film incorporates extraordinary, rare archival footage. The exhibit also highlights the recent agreement between Manitoba and lceland to work cooperatively on the development of hydrogen energy.
