Friday, October 1, 1965 WHITE FALCON 5 NEWLY ELECTED—Five members of the CPO Wives’ Club were installed as officers at their second Installation Dinner-Dance, Sept. 24, at the CPO Club. New Officers Elected For CPO Wives Club; Chaplain Blade Conducts Installation Ritual CRAZY HATS—The charming prize-winners at the Officers’ Wives Club “Crazy Hat” luncheon are shown modeling their distinctive creations. Dinner Opens Social Season; “O” Wives Treated To Music by Susie M. Hamilton The Keflavik CPO Wives Club held their second installation dinner dance on Friday, Sept. 24 in the main ballroom of the CPO Club. A cornucopia of Autumn decorations with individual woodrose cosages, lush foliage and a carnation decorated cake was the result of work by Mesdumes Watson, Hausauer, Jones, Yilek and Baker. The Invocation was given by Chaplain Blade followed by a fine steak dinner. Cap- tain Pierre praised club functions and talked about driving safety during fall and win- ter weather. Best Wishes To All The outgoing President, Mrs. Helen Watson, expressed thanks and best wishes to the incoming group of officers. Mrs. Watson received a commemorative plaque with a gold gavel affixed as a gift from the club members. Chaplain Blade conducted the installation ceremony, giving each new officer a pin designat- ing her particular office. The new officers installed were: President Bev Baker; Vice-President Flo Clement; Secretary Mabel Jones; Treasurer Joy Yilek and Parlia- mentarian Kay Lavin. To complete the ceremonies Chaplain Blade gave the Bene- diction. Music for dancing plea- sure was provided by “The Country Gentlemen.” and Mrs. Blade, Major and Mrs. Kiracofe, Mr. and Mrs. Loher. Members: The following chiefs and their wives present, Baker, Bushaw, Carter, Clement, Hamil- ton, Hersey, Hausauer, Jacobs, Jones, Lavin, Moore, Robinson, Ryan, Slay, Watson, Weir, and Yilek. Our thanks go out to all mem- bers and guests who made this such a particular event for our club. A reminder that our next monthly business meeting will be held Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Calcutta Room of the CPO Club. Wives of military personnel in the grades of E-7 through E-9 are eligible for membership in this club and they are cordially invited to attend our meetings. Honored Guests This special evening was made possible by the attendance of the following honored guests and members. Honored guests: Cap- tain and Mrs. Pierre, Chaplain social season. All the ladies at- tending this luncheon deserve credit for their creativeness. An added highlight of this social gathering was the delight- ful folk singing of Janice and Clare Bratten. The girls, provid- ing their own guitar accompani- ment, gave a fine performance which was very well-received by the Officers’ Wives Club mem- bers and their guests. by Janet Lithe DOES HONORS — Former CPO Wives’ Club president, Mrs. Helen Watson, cuts the cake during the evening festivities. Funny, fancy and fantastic des- cribe the hats worn by the ladies of the Keflavik Officers’ Wives Club at their “Crazy Hat” lunch- eon on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the Officers’ Club. The luncheon, sponsored by Air Force Iceland wives, was a light- hearted, imaginative beginning for the 1965—66 Officers’ Wives Club UDT Offers Career; Oct. 7 Deadline Set Applications to the Underwater Demolition Team Re- placement Training Course for all personnel interested will be held until Oct. 7. To become a member of UDT, you must be at least 18 years old but not more than 31 and of a mature disposition. A minimum GCT of 45 is required and the applicant must have demonstrated emotional sta- bility by past performance. He must have no record as a chronic mast offender and needs to be screened to determine loyality and integrity for access to classified matter. There also must be no fear of water or explosives. Two Consecutive Courses The training consists of two consecutive courses of 16 and 8 weeks with classes starting in January and July. The first 16 weeks training is at the U.S. Na- val Amphibious Base, Little Creek, Va. and the U.S. Naval Station, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. The second course of eight weeks includes three weeks of air- borne training at Ft. Benning, Ga. and five weeks of SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) at the Underwater Swimmers School at Key West, Fla. Physical Requirements All personnel interested should check into the physical require- ments needed to be a part of the UDT since a large part of pre- vious trainees have not been able to meet the prescribed course standards. WCO WtoeA by Jon The monthly social was held on' Tuesday, Sept. 21, in the party room of the NCO Club. Hostesses for this event were Kay Caldar- elli, Ursula Koreman and Kathy Kaffee, and they provided a very entertaining evening for all who attended. It was game night and the winn- ers were Linda Devitt, Ruby Me Coy, Edie Polosi, Mary Manard, Nancy Wilson, Rose Romo, Patsy Weideking and Carmela Graff. The prizes were lovely, ranging from T. V. Lamps to Salad Bowl Sets. Three New Guests We had three new guests at- tend, Nancy Wilson, Charlotte Brauneis and Evelyn Guy. We hope they enjoy their visit with us and plan to come again. Bake Sale We would like to thank every- one who bought our baked goods on Saturday the 25 of Sept., and made our sale a complete success. We hope to have another one in the near future. Again a reminder to all NCO Wives: Don’t forget the business meeting to be held on Oct. 5.
