been. The careful planning, forethought and hard work by the com-
mittees in charge, have made our Camp what it is today. Let us
use a slogan, “The future belongs to those who prepare for it.”
This thought is what our directors are developing in our Camp.
May God bless all their work. I would like to pay tribute to Mrs.
Wathne who was in charge of handicrafts at Camp. She has given
so freely of her time to teach the various groups weaving, has
purchased the necessary equipment very reasonably, and has made
various donations.
We appreciate the gift of the name quilt made by Mrs. E. W.
Perry, Winnipeg. This quilt is blue and gold, bearing the Sunrise
emblem and with the names of all delegates at the 1951 convention
embroidered on it. The Camp can be proud of all its quilts as they
are all original. It would be interesting at some future date to have
a display of all these quilts.
We have a fine Sunday School Committee. They have been
active in establishing Sunday Schools in outlying districts where
there is no resident pastor. This is our Home Mission Field. We
are fortunate in having Mrs. Elizabeth Bjarnarson on this committee.
She and others have personally contacted many people in these
districts, and have given them all the help possible.
The Ardis Committee prepared a very fine issue of the magazine
Jast year. I would like to thank all who contributed. Many people
treasure Ardis for the obituaries. They feel that anything written
about their loved ones is preserved for all time, if it is printed
in Ardis. The same can be said of the histories of the Ladies Aids,
and the fine articles we have had about the various communities.
At our last executive meeting, Mrs. Fjola Gray, our past
president, was elected as a delegate to represent our League at
the Lutheran Synod in Seattle. We feel that we will be capably
represented.
Kind thoughts of appreciation go out to our very capable
secretary, Mrs. Helga Guttormson. She has had a great deal of
extra work to do this last year, what with sending me minutes of
all meetings, various lists and other information which I needed.
In closing I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to
Mrs. Ingibjorg Olafson for all the good advice she has so freely
given me. Without her inspiring influence, I don’t think that I
would have felt capable of being President at this convention.
