On January 12, artist Davíð Örn Hall-
dórsson opens his solo exhibition ‘Ab-
salút gamall kastale’ at Gallery Ágúst.
Halldórsson, who usually works in the
medium of painting, is known for his
use of unconventional materials in his
creations, such as car enamel, oil pas-
tel and spray paint. His work often refer-
ences graphics, graffiti and pop-culture
and is influenced by daily life and his
surroundings. At Gallery Ágúst, he will
present adventurous and colourful
paintings as well as a large wall paint-
ing that fully occupies one of the gal-
lery’s walls.
Halldórsson has exhibited wide-
ly both in Iceland and abroad since he
graduated from the Icelandic Academy
of the Arts a couple of years ago. For in-
stance, he was among the group of Ice-
landic artists selected to present their
works at the HangArt-7 art exhibition in
Salzburg last fall.
The exhibition opens at 16:00 on
January 12 and his paintings will be on
display until February 23.
