Reykjavík has a lot of interesting statues
of interesting people, mostly influential

these statues look, they are all lacking an
essential piece of clothing the people they
are based on would never have left home
without: A hat. Helga Rún Pálsdóttur,
costume designer will rectify the situation
and add hats to six statues around town,
symbolic for the people represented and
the times they lived in. Jón Sigurðsson

of Living Library is to fight prejudice in our
society. The library works just like a regular

The books are usually representatives of
many different groups in society who often
are met with prejudice, are subjects of
inequality and/or social isolation. A living
library is meant to create a situation that
allows spectators/readers to put their own
prejudice and ideas about stereotypes into
perspective. Austurvöllur
