Military members,
families discover free
theme park ‘salute’
By Donald P. Rule,
Naval Media Center FSD Norfolk
For the third time since the first Persian Gulf War,
Anheuser-Busch is currently offering free theme park
admission to members of the U.S. Armed Forces
and their families through a program called “Fleroes
Salute.”
The program is offered at Busch Gardens theme
parks in Williamsburg, Va., and Tampa Bay, Fla., and
its three Sea Worlds in Orlando, Fla.; San Antonio; and
San Diego. The program, which began in February,
will last through Dec. 31.
Sailors who visit their local Morale, Welfare and
Recreation (MWR) Information, Tickets and Tours
(ITT) office will quickly find that MWR doesn’t carry
these tickets, but they do have the information on how
to receive free admissions.
This isn’t the first time this program has been
offered. Anheuser-Busch has done similar events
twice before: once after the first Persian Gulf War and
again after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. These previ-
ous programs gave free admissions to nearly 2 million
service members and their families.
“In our own small way, we’re giving something
back to the brave men and women and their families
who make sacrifices every day for our country,” said
August A. Busch IV, president of Anheuser-Busch Inc.
“As a salute to America’s heroes, we wish to extend a
message of thanks and an invitation.”
According to an official release, the program is open
to any service member on active duty, active reserve,
ready reserve, or in the National Guard or U.S. Coast
Guard, along with up to three direct dependents of
qualified service members.
“The free admission to Busch is a blessing to some
of our military families,” Stephens said. “Our mission
here...is to serve. If this free day brings some joy to
our military families, we are excited to be a part of
it, providing any information to get the Sailor and his
family out to the park.”
