"CP0" five's News
By Anne Louder
The regular monthly business meet-
ing of the C.P.O. Wives Club will be
held Monday, August 4 at 7:30 p.m.
in the C.P.O. Club.
The Wives Club had two lovely
social events at the new CPO Club
in July -- a Bless coffee for Mrs.
Surratt and Mrs. Hart, and our first
luncheon in the “new place.”
Hostesses for the coffee were Peggy
Conroy and Jo Lynn.
For the luncheon, the hostesses
were Myke Russell, Virginia Reed,
Nancy Miller, Anne Louder and Helen
Bean.
Helen Bean’s beautiful flag cake
and dainty petits-fours evoked much
comment.
Thanks to all the girls and their
helpful husbands who made our part of
the carnival such a big success, and
a special word of thanks to Chief
McClintock -- Our Man on the Grill.

The smile told the story as CT2 J.R. Rosenow and CTC N.E. Small were re-
enlisted recently by their CO, LCDR W.L. Luna of NSGA. The wives of the
men were guests at the ceremony in which CT2 Rosenow reenlisted for six
years while CTC Small re-upped for four years. However, Rosenow’s smile
was more evident than Small’s, and with good reason - his after tax bonus with
VRB amounted to $7500!
MCLACHLAN, DONALD - Room
39; a study in Naval Intelligence
From his personal involvement as
a member of the staff of the director
of the British Naval Intelligence
Division from 1940 to 1945 the au-
thor is able to give a comprehensive
and engrossing account of the work
of the division during World War
II. The significant duties of the In-
telligence Division in the official
plans leading to such historic,e-
vents as Operation Neptune on June
5, 1944, are described. ^
CALDWELL, TAYLOR (pseudonym)
— Testimony of Two Men
A consummate examination of pride,
small-town attitudes, and bitter
quarrel between two brothers. Dr.
Jonathan Ferrier is legally exonerat-
ed from the charge of causing his
wife’s death but the opinion of his
fs llowmen, his rivalry with his broth-
er Harald, and other interlocking
events must be resolved before he
can clear his name. Caldwell com-
bines incisive characterization with
an absorbing description of nine-
teenth-century medical practices.
Chiefly for women readers.
