Synopsis of first run movies’
who collects blonde wives, he lures her to Morocco where amid much ceremony and haggling a bargain is made. But
the deal backfires when the lady in turn sells him to the sheik's brother, a homosexual with a male harem. Actually,
of course, man and wife are still in love, and fitting shenanigans put them back eventually in each other's arms.
THE ASSASSINATION BUREAU - COMEDY Oliver Reed-Diana Rigg 110 min. A
A plot-crammed English comedy, set in London in the early 1900's, spoofs the period as well as a story of internat-
ional intrigue. An epidemic of bizarre assassinations in Europe stirs the interest of aspiring reporter Diana Riggs
and she sells her idea for a story to a London publisher. In solving the murders she traces their course to a mys-
terious Assassination Bureau, Ltd. Maneuvering her way into the office of the Bureau's handsome chairman (Oliver
Reed) she engages the company's services. Reed himself is to be the victim, and after informing his board of direc-
tors of their assignment to kill him, he sets off on a series of hide and seek games that take him from France to
Germany and Italy, always followed by Miss Rigg. They end up finally in a remote castle in Ruthenia, where the
pair, now united in stunning feats of derring-do, defeat evil plans of world-wide importance. Inspired by a Jack
London story, the comedy is mounted and played with a good deal of period style.
THE FIRST TIME - COMEDY Jacqueline Bisset - Wes Stern 90 min. M
Sixteen-year-old Kenny leaves his two high school pals to live with his grandparents in Buffalo for the summer.
Bored and lonely, Kenny writes the enticing descriptions of his imaginary sex experiences at Rosie's, a brothel in
nearby Niagara Falls. To his surprise and dismay the two boys arrive in Buffalo, all set to visit Rosie's and learn
about life at first hand. Kenny tries to forestall them with a tour of points of interest around Niagara Falls, but
his visitors have only one thing on their minds. At a cafe they pick up an English girl minus a passport who ind-
uces them to let her cross the border in their company. Mistaking her for a refugee from Rosie's, they escort her
to a hotel, and line up outside her room to take turns with her. Fearful of ridicule, they hide their teenage
fright under a cover of what they think is deveil-may-care sophistication. The sexual curiosity and braggadocio of
adolescence as depicted by the three boys contrasts effectively with the cool sophistication of Jacqueline Bisset,
as the girl in the experience.
A FINE PAIR - Rock Hudson - Claudia Cardinale 90 min. A
Claudia Cardinale comes to New York to ask help from her father's friend, a New York City polic captain, Mike Harmon
(Rock Hudson). She wants to return jewels she has stolen from an Austrian villa before its absent owner returns,
and Mike, eager to get the girl out of trouble, takes her back to the Austrian Alps. A lively, uninhibited love
affair is soon in progress, and ev en when he finds that she has used and outwitted him in the jewel robbery, his
feeling for her is unaltered. By the time they have completed their caper, he is convinced that a life of crime
is more fun than his previous one. But at this point the girl decides to reform, and the audience is left to guess
what the future holds for the changed pair. Filmed in high fashion, swinging style, the sophisticated romantic
comedy has exciting moments and breathtaking scenic backgrounds.
FRAULEIN DOKTOR - DRAMA Suzy Kendall - Kenneth More 101 min. A
During World War I, a top German agent (Suzy Kendall), known only as Fraulein Doktor, is playing havoc with Allied
plans. She is credited with being responsible for three operations of vital importance to both sides in the con-
tinuance of the war. Gaining knowledge of the route to be taken by H.M.S. Hampshire, which is carrying Lord Kitchener
on a secret mission, she makes possible the destruction of the ship. She enters into a lesbian relationship with a
French scientist (Capucine), becomes her confidante, is given access to her animal-filled laboratory and steals her
formula for poison gas. In a final assignment the daring agent is sent to Belgium to obtain the plans for an Allied
offensive in Belgium. The big-scale battle that ensures is horrible, doubly awful because the Germans release the
new blinding, searing gas Fraulein Doktor has stolen, which penetrates gas maskes, and in graphic detail strips
flesh from its victims as it strangles them.
