Air Force opens OTS to non-rated airmen

Active duty aspirants to other
than flying commission were last
selected for OTS in July 1969.
Since then, nonrated applicants
have attended OTS only via the
Airman Education and Commission-
ing Program and Bootstrap Commis-
sioning Program.
Besides a degree, a candidate
must have 18 months' service be-
fore applying. They must be at
least 21 and not older than 30 at
the time of commissioning.
Airman education and commis-
sioning program and bootstrap
candidates and college graduates
entering OTS from civilian life
will not be applied to this spe-
cial quota for first term airmen.
An OTS selection board, con-
vening November 1 will select the
best qualified candidates for in-
put to the following career
fields: weapons control, missile
launch control, missile mainten-
ance, munitions, communications-
electronics engineering and in-
dustrial engineering. Also, the
open mess management field will
be open to holders of hotel and
restaurant management degrees.
