AF Secretary
stops here for
orientation visit
The Honorable Dr. Robert C.
Seamans, Jr., Secretary of the
Air Force, made a one - day visit
to the naval station this week.
Secretary Seamans arrived with
his party Monday night, as part
of an orientation visit to mili-
tary installations.
While here, he and his party
attended the command briefing in
the operational control center,
followed by a discussion *of air
defense and future programs with
Rear Adm. J. K. Beling, ComIDF,
and Col. Budd H. Butcher, AFI
commander.
Then the party toured the Navy
ASW Tactical Support Center. The
last stop on their brief itinerary
was a tour of the facilities of
the 57th Fighter Interceptor
Squadron.
Accompanying Secretary Seamans
were: Mr. Jack L. Stempier, Gen-
eral Counsel of the Air Force;
Mr. John B. Walsh, Deputy Assis-
tant Secretary for Research; Mr.
Robert H. Jensen, Deputy for In-

day, the Secretary and his party

at the local level.
o Z-gram 21, which dealt with
local command action. This Z-
gram allows a man who has duty on
a holiday to take one working day
off to compensate. Included in the
legal holidays under the perview
of this Z-gram are: Washington's
Brithday, Memorial Day, Indepen-
dence Day, Labor Day, Columbus
Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving
Day and Christmas Day.
• Z-gram 22 has as its subject
the improving of shore establish-
ment habitability. Within the
defense force, many departments
and divisions improved their
quarters with self-help. All
barracks residents are encouraged

• Z-gram 23 set up a board of
six senior and master chiefs as
volunteers, plus the Master Chief
Petty Officer of the Navy, to act
as a sounding board on ideas put

mitted no nominations for this
board.
• Z-gram 24 required shore
based commanders to establish pro-
cedures aimed at giving Navy wives
an opportunity to present com-
plaints, viewpoints and sugges-

Applications for the summer
session at the base nursery are
still being accepted.
There are openings for three
and four-year-olds for the months
of June and July. The session
for the three-year-olds begins on
Tuesday, June 3 and will be held
on Tuesdays and Thursdays until
the end of July. A fee of $8 is
being charged for the three-year-
olds.
The session for the four-year-
olds begins on Wednesday, June 3.
It will run every Monday, Wed-
nesday and Friday. Fees for this
group are $12.50.
All applications will be ac-
cepted on a first-come, first-
served basis. A
