air, the trip consisted of flying up the Greenland
coast, on up past the Arctic Circle. Although
the weather was marginal at Keflavik on de-
rture, the skies cleared enroute; and, by the

As the aircraft made its low pass down the field,
the cargo was pushed through the large cabin door
on the side of the plane. After making three
passes over the drop spot, the drop was right on
the target, and soon, the isolated Danish settle-
ment dwellers were reading their mail.
The flight was a complete success, and the crew
started their return trip coming around the other
side of the island, to Keflavik with the satisfac-
tion of having "gotten the mail through". VP-49
wishes the Danes lots of good reading, and apolo-
gizes that their mail didn't get there any sooner.
It had taken almost four months to arrive, even
by "air mail".
