For Fastpitch crown
The station Fast, itch League came to a rousing climax as Food Ser-
vices won a nine-inning thriller 4-0 over NavCoramSta. A brilliant
pitchers duel between Lee Kasting and Bill Pruitt ended in the ninth
when Food Services pushed across four runs using four hits, and a walk
while capitalizing on two errors.
Kasting was in command all the
way allowing just five hits while
striking out six and walking two.
He was in trouble in the fourth
when NCS got two hits but were
unable to score.
Pruitt was sailing along with
a three-hitter when the roof
caved in. He struck out eight
and walked three.
Frank Gregori led off the
ninth for Food Services and was
safe on an error. Jerry Luciano
walked and Ron Wilcox was safe on
an error. FS then rapped four
straight hits by Terry Heineman,
Tex Cole, Kenneth Ski, and Meeks
Lukaszow to grab their 4-0 lead
which held up.
Golf action
in base tourney
In base golf tournament action,
Keith Manning beat Dave Devaneyto
capture first flight honors 5-4
last Saturday. Keith was one over
par for the day. Tom Carroll
whipped Bob Peabody for second
flight honors August 18. George
Randolf edged Bill Hutneck for
third flight's top spot,last Sun-
day.
Chuck Bates meets Ray Richards
in quarter-final action. The win-
ner will meet Dick Plante in the
Semi-finals. Already in the finals
is undefeated Dave Brooke.
Golf tourney tomorrow
A golf tournament at Keflavik
Golf Course is scheduled for 1
p.m. Saturday. Anyone wishing to
play may sign up at the gym. At
least 25 golfers are needed.
Horseshoe tourney
John Singleton and Red Er.ibrey
put the finishing touches on the
Doubles Horseshoe Tournament, by
shutting out Charlie Stokes and
Vern Chewning 11-0 and 11-0. The
match was held August 14.

Seven different batters hit
safely for the winners while
Wayne Renre got two of the NCS
five safties.
Bantam, Junior bowlers
Registration is underway for
the winter Bantam and Junior Bow-
ling Leagues. All interested
Bantam and Junior bowlers should
sign up at the Youth Center no
later than September 2.
Bantam League bowlers include
boys and girls age eight through
twelve, while the Junior League
is for boy3 and girls 13 through
22.
Two Major League
games on AFRS
Two live major league baseball
games are scheduled this week-end.
Saturday, the Los Angeles Dod-
gers take on the New York Mets at
Shea Stadium. Game time is 6:10
p.m.
Sunday, the San Francisco
Giants meet the Philadelphia
Phillies at Philadelphia. Game
starts at 5:30 p.m.

Air Ops team
slow-pitch
champ
AirOps beat CFK No. 2 for the
base slowpitch championship to
justify their role as pre-tourney
favorites. Both teams were hit-
ting well, while 7 of the 13 runs
came across on the benefit of
five errors.
VP-24 returned from Patuxent
River to settle the American
League title with AirOps. They
dropped the first game of a three
game series 20-4, then won the
next two 16—5 and 14-7 to take the
trophy back to Maryland.
The leading hitter for the
season was Bob Peabody from Air-
Ops, while Jim Goins of MAA had
nine homers.
Most valuable players will be
announced at the banquet which
will be either September 2 or
16 at the 56 Club due to tn^
phies not arriving.
KR takes NSGA for
base basketball crown
Keflavik Recreation (KR) kept
their inside attack safe and
clean as they beat NSGA 43-41 in
the base basketball championship
played last Tuesday.
Jon Einar and William Hjortur
were high scorers for KR with 15
and 12 points respectively. High
point men for NSGA were Vern
Kingery and Larry Wilkerson with
10 each.
KR also dominated the foul
line with 19 out of 23, while
NSGA had 8 out of 17.
