States offering bonuses to Vetnam-era vets ^^^Au< J ^Uno: 9 • CONNECTICUT: In addition to aving been a resident of this state before entering active duty, between Jan. 1. 1964 and the date which is determined to be the end of the Vietnam conflict. The bonus will be figured at the rate of $10 for each month of active duty inthe period specified above and up to a maximum of $300. There is a provision in the Connecticut law for payment of the bonus to survivors of a mili- tary man. For information and forms, write: Vietnam Bonus Di- vision, State Treasurer's Office, 15 Lewis St., Hartford, Conn. 06115. • DELAWARE: Citizens of this state who apply for the state's bonus payment resided inthe state forat least 12 months immediately prior to entry into military ser- vice. Active duty to qualify must have been performed between Aug. 5, 1964 and the date which s determined to be the end of e Vietnam conflict. Applicants must have had 90 days of active duty between the dates specified above. Bonus payment will be figured at the following rates: $15 for each month of stateside service, up to a maximum of $225; $20 for each month of foreign service, up to a maximum of $300. Payment to a veteran or his beneficiary may not exceed $300 except in the event a veteran dies during ser- vice, in which case his bene- ficiary will be paid the added sum of $300; or if a veteran has a 60 percent or greater service- connected disability, he shall be entitled to a payment of $300 re- gardless of his length of service. Union St., Wilmington, Del. 198- OS. • ILLINOIS: To qualifyfor the Illinois state bonus, individuals must have served on active duty on or after Jan. 1, 1961 and must have been awarded the Vietnam Service Medal. Another requirement is residence in the state for at least 12 months immediately prior to entering the military. The bonus is set at $100. However, a beneficiary of 111- ois serviceman who was killed Vietnam or who dies from Viet- service-connected causes may receives bonus payment of $1,000. For information and applica- tion forms, write: Illinois Vet- erans Commission, Vietnam Compen- sation Fund, 221 W. Jefferson St., Springfield, 62705. • LOUISIANA: A bonus law has been passed in Louisiana but no payments will be made until the end of hostilities in Vietnam. Requirements are: Individual must have served in the Vietnam com- bat area between July 1, 1958, and the date which is determined to be the end of hostilities, and must have been a resident of the state at time of entry into mili- tary service. The bonus is $250 regardless of length of service. The state's law includes two provisions for the payment to be made to survivors of servicemen. In the event an eligible service- manor veteran dies after entitle- ment to the bonus and prior to payment, his survivors may re- ceive the payment. The law also authorizes the payment of $1,000 to survivors ofa serviceman whose death is the result of military service in the Vietnam combat area. Next week, the White Falcon will review the bonus programs of Massachusetts, North Dakota, Penn- sylvania, South Dakota and Ver- mont. ‘Stop the World...I Want to Get Off here next week for performances The USO version of the play "Stop The World...I Want To Get Off" will be at Keflavik next week, when West Virginia University, from Morgantown, comes in for.a five-day stay. The troupe will perform at various locations around the naval sta- tion and outlying sites starting with an 8 p.m. Wednesday perform- ance at Andrews Theater. On Thursday, to H-3 for a officers' club. At 7 p.m. Friday, the players fly 7:30 show at the they will be at the 56 Club here. Then on Saturday, the show is at the Polar Club at 2 and it will be on at Grindavik at 8. A 2p.m. show Sunday at the CPO Club and an 8 p.m. performance at Rockville will round outthe tour.
