KBA announces third annual
all-events bowling tournament
The Keflavik Bowling Association has announced its third annual
tournament to be held at the Arctic Lanes on Oct. 9, 10, 16 and
17. The tournament is open to all bowlers who are members of the
Association, and events include team, doubles and individuals events
both scratch and handicap. .__________________________
Entries will be open on Sept.
20 and close midnight Oct. 3.
Bowlers may enter as many e-
vents as they wish, with the max-
imum $16 entry fee covering all
events.
Participants must have an e-
stablished average based on at
least 21 games in an ABC sanc-
tioned league. Averages from
previous leagues may be used if
the bowlers haven't bowled 21
games in a current league. Those
without established averages will
be required to bowl scratch.
It is each bowler's responsi-
bility to verify the accuracy of
his average, whether originally
submitted by him, his team capt-
ain or others. Failure to use
the proper average or make a cor-
rection prior to or at time of
bowling will result in a disqual-
ification if his submitted aver-
age is lower than his actual one.
Handicap will be 66.6 percent
of the difference between 190 and
the highest league average, with
a maximum handicap of 35 pins.
Bowling is divided into the
following categories: five-man
team, two-man doubles and one-man
singles events. All-events (both
scratch and handicap) will also
be judged, with trophies, patches
and cash prizes being awarded.
One hundred percent of the prize
money will be returnedto bowlers.
Bowlers may bowl in as many
singles, doubles and team events
as they want, but may be awarded
prize money only once in each
event.
Team captains may replace men
in the team event. If a duly en-
tered and scheduled bowler is un-
able to bowl when he is scheduled
in the two-man and individual
events, he will sign a replace-
ment affidavit. A person quali-
fied under Association rules may
bowl in his place. Such an affi-
davit must be presented to the
tournament secretary at least 30
minutes before bowling time.
Further information can be ob-
tained by contacting one of the
two tournament committeemen, Tom
Harder (Ext. 8177) or John Wuer-
pel (Ext. 8331).
