A couple weeks ago, a special
Board convened and made new rules
and improvements for the club.
Captain Jack McDonald, Commander
Naval Forces Iceland, put them
into effect, "and so far," says
the club's manager, Earl Walker,
^there have been no problems."
Another Midnight Sun employee
terested in making new changes
come true is Chic Vannini, Food
Service Manager. Chic has been
with the club for a couple of
weeks and he already says, "I
want to make this a house that
not only the Navy Exchange can be
proud of, but I'd like to make it
an example of how a club should
run for all enlisted men, having
been one myself."
When asked about future chang-
es in the kitchen facilities,
Chic said, "We're now working on
expanding it to about three times
it's present size, and with the
funds that are available, we
should be able to make it as pro-
fessional as any restaurant I've
ever run in my life." Chic has
been in the restaurant business
for the past 17 years, "which in-
cludes managing one of the big-
gest steakhouses in the city of
New York, and owning two restau-
rants now," he included.
Other improvements mentioned
for the near future are a lowered
ceiling for better acoustics, Go-
Go girls from the states in Janu-
ary, an 18 in. stage, a designa-
d dancing area, and says Chic,
ew tables and chairs are pre-
sently on their way here."
Ted Kepler, Print Shop, relaxes
with a Tequila Sour and some
small talk with another patron.
Table waiters help reduce the
flow of traffic to the bar.
If you're looking for a beer and some quiet conversation, you can
get service in the dining room like (left to right), Jim Webb,
Print Shop, Ruben Martines, Bruce Clayburn, Steve Fairbanks, ADMIN.
