Navy offers service
to stamp collectors
The Navy is offering a special
service to stamp collectors in
connection with the launch of Ap-
polo 16 on March 17.
Covers sent to the Pacific Co-
ordination Center will be for-
warded to the recovery ship for
cancellation and will also re-
ceive the Special Apollo 16
Cachet. Those covers sent to the
Atlantic Coordination Center will
receive the Cachet. They will be
cancelled with the standard "U-S
Postal Service" because the At-
lantic Recovery Force will not
include a ship with costal fac-
ilities .
Only United States postage can
be used on the covers. Two covers
per collector will be accepted.
Collectors should send stan-
dard-sized covers, 3 5/8 by 6 1/2
inches with a three inch square
on the left-hand side for the
cachet. They should be sent to
the Coordination Centers before
Feb. 25.
The address for the Pacific
Coordinator is: Chief In Charg^
(Apollo 16), Task Force 130, Na'^B
Terminal Post Office, Fleet PosB
Office, San Francisco, Calif.,
96610. The Atlantic Coordina-
tor's address is: Apollo 16 Cov-
ers, Task Force 140, Naval Air
Station, Norfolk, Va., 23511.
New AF policy in effect
A new Air Force personnel pol-
icy requires all enlisted person-
nel to serve a year within the
continental United States before
becoming eligible for overseas
assignment.
The only exceptions are Airmen
applying for a humanitarian re-
assignment and personnel who en-
list or reenlist under the base
preference program. Overseas vol-
unteer statements submitted be-
fore Nov. 19 will be honored.
Special duty assignment appli-
cations such as ROTC and Recruit-
ing may be Submitted anytime. Al-
though these are handled on an
individual basis, personnel will
not be moved until the one year
residency requirement is met.
A few Airmen with critical
skills, both volunteers and nor^
volunteers, will receive oversea
assignments with less than 1?
months on a base.
