Paae 4 White Falcon October 21, 1977 Slowey places in swim meet The Recreation Department held a swim meet Thursday at the base pool with separate events held for the women and men. The swim meet was held in observance of the Navy's 202nd Birthday. The results were as follow. LADIES 50 meter free style: Abie Chambers first place, Elizabeth Slowey second place. 50 meter breast stroke: Mary McNeer first place and Elizabeth Slowey second place. 50 meter back stroke: Abie Chambers first place and Elizabeth Slowey second place. MEN 50 meter free style: Tony Pinkham first place and Klappenback second place 50 meter breast stroke: Dave Hudomint first place and Mark Shaw second place. 50 meter back stroke: Tony Pinkham first place and Klappenback second place. 50 meter butterfly: Marvin Merrill first place. 100 meter free style: Klappenback first place and Tony Pinkham second place. 100 meter breast stroke: Dave Hudomint first place and Gary Godwin second place. 100 meter back stroke: Renee Mahone first place. 100 meter butterfly: Marvin Merrill first place 100 meter medley: Michael Finegan first place and Klappenback second place. 200 meter medley team: Marvin Merrill, Tony Pinkham, Gary Godwin and Michael Finegan. The first and second place winners may stop by the gym and pick up their plaques. American-lcelandic swim meet for all ages with certificates given to Participants Tryouts for the meet will be held tomorrow at the base pool from 10 to 1 p .m. Attention all swimmers. An Ameri- can and Icelandic fun day swim meet will be held Nov. 5 for all ages. There will be team and individuals events. Certificates will be given to first, second and third places and for those who participate in the meet. Dohlin takes first Under threatening skies and brisk winds the Recreation Department held its first annual 10,000 meter Fun Run Saturday. Results of the Fun Run were: Gregory B. Dohlin of the 57th FIS in first place with a time of 35:53, Robert Hopper of ComSta came in second with a time of 37: 59 and Don Hershberger of NIS rounded third place out with a time of 42:01. Red Cross to give lifesaving course A Red Cross advanced lifesaving course will begin Monday from 8 to 10 p.m. at the base pool. The pool is in need of life guards. Classes will be held on Monday and Tue- day nights and will end approximately Multi-Media first aid will included in the course. There is no cost for either course. Each team is made up of two experi- enced players and two inexperienced play- ers. The reason behind this is because the ladies feel that they have a fair chance to win each time they play a team. No team has super power at the moment, but since the teams have been chosen, team members have been practicing togeth- From watching these gals, I can tell they are serious and they are going to win some games.
