As intramural bowling moves into its final month of play, two races are beginning to look as if they are over, while two are still in the balance. Specomm holds a 10-game bulge in the International and Medical is up by six in the National, and only a complete reversal of their shown performance would knock them from the top spots. The leagues still being contested are Monday night's American and North Atlantic. The 960th AWACSS holds a slim one and half game edge in the American while CommSta NRK, last year's base champs, are ahead by two and a half. In Monday's action in the Ameri- can League, things basically re- mained unchanged as far as the top teams go. The 960th pasted IDF for three behind Bob Fulwider's 225 game and 558 set, Joe Morowski's 551, Ed Jones' 537 and John Wright's 518. Second place Food Services kept pace with a 3-1 win over VP-23 behind Jack Roberts' 200 and 534. Jim Aus- tin's 204 and 555 led the 57th past AIMD 3-1, and the Commissary shutout Comptroller with Norm Bemis rolling a 531, Reynaldo Vitocruz a 213 and 523 and Tony Cuerpo a 503 for the winners and Calvin Pauling pacing the losers with a 200 and 538. AFI was a 3-1 winner over NavCommSta with Bob Couturier rolling games of 202 and 203 and a 547 set for AFI. Bruce Michaelson followed with a 540 and Paul Cozort added a 503. Mike Varney was high for CommSta with a 506. Navy Broadcasting blanked Nav- Fac in the remaining match. Doug Drewry's 200 and 569 and Dean Granger's 203 and 507 led first place CommSta NRK to a 3-1 decision over Public Works in the North At- lantic League. Club Management kept pace by downing the Marines for three. Dan Cain had a 222 game for the Marines. CFK shutout NavFac be- hind Bill Davies' 200 and 545, John Burk's 508, Ed Sibel's 507 and Jim Fales' 200. Nick Nassar rolled a 536 as AIMD won three from Supply #3, the Black Knights was a 3-1 win- ner over IsComlce and Air Ops and Comptroller split their match. Walt Milnichuk rolled a 207 game and 542 series, Danny Bushong had a 535 and Mike Perkowski a 513 as Med- ical won three from the Navy Ex- change in the National League. AFI and CommSta are tied for second. CommSta split their match with Com- FairKef while AFI lost a 3-1 deci- sion to the CFK Chiefs. Jerry Dretsch had a 500 for ComFair while Vince Feaster had a 503 for AFI. Bert Quintans rolled a 227 game and 604 set as Recreation split with Dental; Supply #2 shutout the 57th FIS Good Guys; and the IDF Chiefs won 4-0 over the Supply Chiefs. Perry Boren led IDF with games of 216 and 205 and a 591 series while Joe McGlynn topped the Supply Chiefs with a 213 and 569. In the International League, George Letke had a 513 and Frank Caille a 508 as Specomm downed the NSGA Mat Rats 3-1. Mark Sobczak rolled a 201 game for the Mat Rats. Det. 14 is in second place but they lost a 3-1 battle with NavFac. Arm- es Jokinen led the Fac with a 211 and 534. Scott Metzger rolled a 522 as the NSGA Hot Rocks won three from Public Works. Navy Weather was a 3- 1 winner over the 960th AWACSS; Art Kane had a 525 as AFI split with Ad- min and Grindavik won two and a half from the Marines. Mark Harding had a 213 game for Crindy and the Mar- ines were led by Gary Basil's 518. Peer, McGlynn top no tap Ken Peer and Doris McGlynn shared top honors in the no tap bowling tournament held last weekend at the Arctic Lanes. Peer finished first in the men's division with a 778 series while Mc- Glynn bested all other lady entrants with a 659 series. Mrs. McGlynn al- so had the high game in the women's category with a 276 while Tom And- rews grabbed the honors for the men with a 288. Rounding out the remainder of the women's finishers, Willa Dugan, win- ner of the last no tap, was second with a 631. Third was Linda Patrizi with a 579, Vera Luce was fourth with 576 and Brenda Kyne had a 555. In the men's division, Skip Groce was second with a 757, Pat Ponder third at 724, Jim Kyne followed with a 723, Danny Bushong had a 711 for fifth and Chuck Stegall was sixth with a 707. Seventh place went to Bruce Mich- aelson with a 680, Mike Luce was next at 676, Darwin Ray had a 671, Ed Saunders and Doug Drewry tied for 10th at 670, Tom Andrews had a 655, Ray Thigpen a 653, Scott Metzger a 648 and George Letke a 647. There were 193 entries in the two day tourney, 146 men and 47 women. All rosters for men's and women's volleyball teams must be turned in to the base gym by 5 p.m. Monday Feb. 25. Volleyball season will be- gin March 3. There will be a meeting for the coaches of all men's volleyball teams Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the base gym. There will be a meeting or wo- men's coaches on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the base gym. Beginning and Advanced Gymnastics for children will begin again on Saturday Feb. 23. Lessons will be scheduled according to interest. The Keflavik Women's Bowling As sociation will be holding a head pin tournament tomorrow and Sunday In the head pin tourney a bowle will bowl a three game series, roll ing 12 balls a game. If the head pin is hit then the bowler will score the number of pins knocked down. If missed, a zero will be re- corded. A perfect game of 12 strikes will score 120. Willa Dugan and Darwin Ray have retained their titles as Queen and King of the Hill, respectively. Willa downed Judy Dempsey in the final match while Darwin topped Lar- ry Graves. King and Queen of the Hill compe- tition is held every Sunday at the Arctic Lanes at noon and is open competition. Racquetball standin' Men’s 14 CFK Det.
