960th AWACSS honors 10
Last month the following person-
nel attached to the 960th AWACSS
were promoted: Senior Master Sgt.
Edward W. Powers, Tech. Sgt. Billy
W. Flynn, Staff Sgt. Ricky C. Brand,
Senior Airman James A. Varland, and
1st Lt. Kenneth R. Woodall.
Maj . Cornwell, 960th AWACSS Oper-
ation's Officer, received the First
Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Force
Commendation Medal for meritorious
service as an E-3A (aircraft) in-
structor pilot and manager in the
966th AWAC Training Squadron, Tinker
Air Force Base, Okie. from June 30,
1976 to June 8, 1979.
Capt. Ainslie, 960th AWACSS
Chief Flight Operations, also re-
ceived the First Oak Leaf Cluster to
the Air Force Commendation Medal for
meritorious service as an E-3A (air-
craft) mission ready navigator,
963rd AWACSQ and instructor, 966th
AWAC Training Squadron, Tinker Air
Force Base, Okla. from June 16, 1977
to July 19, 1979.
Tech. Sgt. Terrence Boudreau,
AGB-Flight Chief, received the Air
Force Commendation Medal for merito-
rious service as NC0IC, Doppler Ra-
dar Shop, 41st Consolidated Aircraft
Maintenance Squadron, McCellan Air
Force Base, Calif, from July 20,
1976 to July 22, 1979.
Lt. Col. James R. Sterk, Command-
er, 960th AWACSS presented Air Force
Commendation Medals to Tech. Sgt.
Terrence Boudreau, Captain Gregory
Ainslie and Major Jerry Cornwell
during a recent Commander's call.
AFI cites 7 members
Seven individuals were honored at
a recent Commanders Call for Head-
quarters Squadron, Air Forces Ice-
land. Major George C. Bauer III,
Squadron Commander, presented the a-
wards to Staff Sgt. David L. Palmer
of Supply, Staff Sgt. John M. Fager
and Senior Airman Larry R. Gilpat-
rick both of AFI Security, Tech.
Sgt. Bruce Michaelson, Senior Air-
man Jack Klemm, Tech. Sgt. Albert E.
Kennedy and to Senior Airman Larry
R. Gilpatrick.
Staff Sgt. Palmer received the
Air Force Commendation Medal. Staff
Sgt. Fager and SrA. Gilpatrick also
received Air Force Commendation
Medals.
Tech. Sgt. Michaelson received
belatedly a plaque for NCO of the
Quarter for July through September
1979. SrA. Klemm was presented a
plaque for Airman of the Quarter for
October through December 1979.
• Additionally, Tech. Sgt. Kennedy
and SrA. Gilpatrick were introduced
as Air Forces Iceland Outstanding
NCO/Airman of the Year.

tion personnel recently were promot-
ed are the following: RM1 H. P.
Amos, RM1 R. H. Arturo, RM1 J. D.
Eaton, RM1 J. K. Sullivan, RM2 M. C.
Mann, RM2 E. J. Pahule, RM2 D. E.
McCullough, RM2 J. T. Wright, RM3
Byrd, RM3 Ensign, RM3 Smith, RM3
Williams, RM3 Case, YN3 Bryan, YN3
Lilliheil, ET2 Larsen, PN2 Myers and
RMSN Cummins.
Twelve personnel who are attached
with the U. S. Naval Communication
Station recently were presented Good
Conduct awards are: RM2 Cossaboom,
SM2 Scruggs, ET2 Ladd, and ET2
Courtney received their first award.
RM1 Payette, RM1 Arturo, RM1 Reed,
RM1 Jennings and YN1 McCabe received
their second award. RM1 Essman, RM1
Girard, and RM1 Thompson received
their third, fourth and fifth awards
respectively.
Pedestrians must
wear reflectors
Recently U. S. Naval Station
Keflavik, experienced a near miss
accident when two pedestrians were
nearly hit by a motor vehicle.
The two pedestrians were cross-
ing the main ramp from Hangar
831 to the gas station. The dri-
ver of the vehicle did not see the
pedestrians until they were in
front of him. Fortunately, the
driver was abiding the speed limit
and could avoid an accident.
It is required that pedestrians
use reflectors on their clothing,
