Both dropped their oppon- ents for four Monday night. Vern Matteson put on a bowling clinic for his NRK teammates and op- position Weapons. Matteson rolled three 200 games (200, 208, 204) en- route to his 612 series. Russ Beard followed with a 567, Doug Drewry ad- ded a 211 and 566 and Greg Loos had a 512 for the winners. Patt Ponder was high for Weps with a 508. Air Ops didn't have any 500 sets, but kept pace with NRK by shutting out Medical #2. In remaining action, the 57th FIS #4 squad blanked AIMD #2, the 960th AWACSS #3 team was a 3-1 winner over PSD; JoJo Enriquez rolled a 513 as Club Management tripped the Black Knights for three and CFK dropped two games off the pace by splitting with Air Ops #2. Greg Patrick had a 513 for CFK. Roger Bognot's 508 set was enough to give AIMD a 3-1 decision over Comptroller and maintain a one game lead in the American League. AFI #2 gained a game on the leaders by shutting out NavFac behind Jim Kear- ney's 529, Paul Pietruszewski's 517 and Bruce Michaelson's 513. In other action the 960th AWACSS moved into a tie for third after dropping Navy Broadcasting for three. Phil Charron provided the big gun for the 960th with a 241 game and 591 set. He was followed by 542 sets from Mike Luce and Ed Jones and Dave Weaver added a 502. Food Services won three from IDF, J.C. Colburn had a 201 game in VP- 46 's 3-1 win over the Commissary and NavCommSta was a 3-1 winner over the 57th FIS. Bob Laping led the Comm- Sta attack with a 548. Jeff Cooper was next with a 521 and Mike Varney had a 502. In the National League, Randy Hunter's 508 led Medical to a 4-0 decision over the CFK Chiefs. The win gave Medical a one and a half game lead over second place CommSta who blanked Supply #2. Rounding out the remaining Na- tional League action, Joe McGlynn had a 244 game and 537 set and Doris McGlynn followed with a 535 as the Supply Chiefs won four from AFI. Frank Krocka was high for AFI with a 212 and 536. The 57th FIS Good Guys shutout the Navy Exchange, Dick Hen- derson's 515 led IsComlce to a 4-0 decision over ComFairKef, and the 57th FIS #5 squad shutout Dental's Cuspids Crusaders. Walt Myros topped the 57th with a 540, Danny Horvat had a 533 and Bob Shaffer ad- ded a 223 and 511. Peter Bertrand led Dental with a 507. John Dunne's 517 and Tony Croce's 514 led Admin to a 4-0 win over NSGA #1 and moved Admin into first place by a game over the 960th AWACSS, al- so a 4-0 winner. AWACSS downed Det. 14 even though the Jolly Green's Dale Cook had a 500 set. NavFac //I won command bragging rights by shutting out the NavFac #3 squad, Grindavik was a 3-1 winner over Public Works, Dan Cain's 521 led the Marines to a three and a half game win over NSGA #2 and AFI won three from Specomm. Chuck Park- er led AFI with a 210 game and 565 set and Art Kane followed with a 221 and 536. A challenge was met by the Ai^^^^ Force which yielded an additiona^^^^B $50 to the Navy Relief Fund. Th^^^^ challenge was a basketball game bet- ween members of the Air Force and members of the Navy and was played at the AE House gym Sunday, May 4 at 7 p.m. The final score was Navy 64, Air Force 61. The Navy team was coached by Glen King, and the Air Force team by Joe Melton. A special thanks goes to the mem- bers of both teams, the recreation department and the officials and scorekeepers who volunteered their time in order that this game could be played. Granger, Stuermer tops in AJBC tourney Roger Granger and Matt Stuermer have b';en crowned the top bowlers in the AJBC bowling tournament held last weekend at the Arctic Lanes. Granger won the Junior/Senior all events title while Stuermer did the same in the Bantam division. Granger, who averages 151, fin- ished three pins ahead of Agust Cer- asi at 1769. Cerasi, who is a 99 average shooter, just missed the title at 1766. Granger had to catch 100 pins on Cerasi in his final three games to win the crown. Stuer- mer ended the competition with a 1420 total. Tracy Hester was third in the Junior/Senior division with a 1721 while Kim Peer's 1332 was good e- nough for second in the Bantam divi- sion with Todd Raines grabbing third with a 1272. The Junior/Senior team title went to Mike Dala Cruz, Brian Woods, Holly Frandsen and Granger. Janice Luce, Cerasi, Brad Mordan and Ken Peer finished second. The Bantam team title went to Kim Peer, Stuermer, Tim Hester and Kevin Gillam. Second place went to Mich- elle Allen, Ernest Layug, Tommy Cas- tillo and Eddie Mahayag. Mike Dela Cruz and Brian Woods teamed to win the Junior/Senior doubles title with a total of 1156. The brother-sister combination of Ken and Kim Peer finished second at 1144 and Richard Long and Carol Luce were third at 1130. Robert Grubbs and Jared York won the Bantam doubles title with a 1011 total while second and third went to Michelle Allen and Steve Rogers (959) and Byron Leggett and Robert Werley (952). Agust Cerasi's 623 was good e- nough to win the singles title in the Junior/Senior division. Next came Mike Dela Cruz at 617, Roger Granger at 607 and Tracy Hester at 601. Glen Burk topped the Bantams singles. He had a 497. Kevin Tup was second with a 492, Robert Werle’ had a 487 and Jared York a 481.
