Register for CCD classes
Registration for Catholic CCD
classes for the Catholic Parrish
will be held following Masses on
Aug. 30 and 31, and Sept. 6 and 7.

Recreation closes for C of C
The following Recreation faci-
lities will be closed Thursday
until 2 p.m. to enable department
personnel to attend the change of
command ceremony: Auto Hobby,
Hobby Center, Bowling Alley, Gym-
nasium and Gear Issue.
NavFac honors five
The Naval Facility recently
held an awards ceremony during
which OTCS Terence Clary was pre-
sented a Navy Achievement Medal;
ENS Pamela Marshall and OTC John
Krueger were awarded Letters of
Commendation; and OTC Edward Krie-
bel and RM3 Joseph Jamison were
frocked to their present rank.
Immunization hours change
The Naval Station Hospital'-s
Immunization Clinic hours have
changed. The new hours are as
follow: For Active Duty personnel
on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
from 9 to 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 to
3:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Fri-
day from 9 to 11:45 a.m. For de-
pendents on Tuesday from 10 to 11
a.m. and on Thursday from 2 to 4
p.m.
AIMD sewing jacket reflectors
The AIMD Paraloft, located in
Hangar 831, will be sewing reflec-
tive tape on military and civilian
jackets for the following commands
in September: Air Ops and Nav-
OceanSysDet from Sept. 2-5; the
Lower School from Sept. 8-12; and
the Upper School from Sept. 22-26.
960th AWACSS cites six
At a recent Commander's Call
for the 960th AWACSS, Lt. Col.
Joseph A. Price III presented
MSgt. Daniel Sullivan with a Meri-
torious Service Medal. Receiving
the Air Force Commendation Medal
were TSgt. Wayne Stafford, Sgt,
Evonne Creasman, SRA Bruce Hol-
comb, TSgt. David Mayfield, SSgt.
Stephen Green, and SRA Timothy
Scott.
Smith to relieve Keene Thursday
Capt. Peter T. Smith is scheduled to relieve Capt. T.J. Keene as Com-
manding Officer of Naval Station Keflavik during change of command cere-
monies Thursday at 10 a.m. in hangar 885.
Vice Admiral William T. Rapp, who retired from the Navy in 1974 as
Commander Third Fleet, will be the guest speaker.
Capt. Keene will lea'’e Iceland for his next duty assignment at Naval
Air Station, Moffett, California, where he will be Chief of Staff for Com-
mander Patrol Wings Pacific.
Capt. Smith's most recent assignment was as Chief Staff Officer, Patrol
and Reconnaissance Force Seventh Fleet, Task Force 72, having served there
since August of 1979.
During his 27 years in the Navy, Capt. Smith has served at numerous
commands. They include tours with VR-7, Hickman Air Force Base, Hawaii;
Naval Air Station Corry Field, Pensacola, Florida; Naval Station,
Newfoundland; VP-44, which made deployments to Newfoundland, Iceland and
Bermuda; Fleet Air Wing Five; Com-
mander Patrol Wings Pacific at Naval
Air Station, Moffett Field, Calif.;
and VP-47, which he commanded.
During his tour with VP-47, the
squadron was awarded the Coastal
Command Trophy, the Isbell Trophy
and the Battle Efficiency "E" award.
After completing his tour with
VP-47, Capt. Smith then reported to
the staff of the Chief of Naval
Operations to serve as Special As-
sistant to the Director of Anti-
submarine Warfare Programs for
Joint, Congressional and Industrial
Liasison.
Capt. Smith, who hails from
Warwick, Rhode Island, is married
to the former Donny Matthews of
Watmanalo, Hawaii, and they have
two children: a daughter, Catherine
Capt. Patar T. Smith and a son, Michael.
