Learn not to burn
Deputy Fire Chief H. Stefansson observes as the men of the Naval Station
Fire Department fight a "practice" fire at building T-15, Oct. 10. The
fire, which was planned and used for training purposes, took approximately
40 minutes to put out.

Photo Contest
Do you have a picture of a Kefla-
vik sunrise that is your pride and
joy? Or perhaps a shot of your son
playing with his cat which is espe-
cially meaningful to you?
If so, why not enter the photo
in the White Falcon Photo Contest.
The deadline is November 14, and the
results will be published in the
Thanksgiving edition of the Falcon.
Photographs submitted cannot have
won any previous award, and must be
accompanied with your name, phone
number and the name of the develop-
ing company, if any.
To enter, submit your photo to
the IceDeFor Public Affairs Office,
located in T-170, either through
guard mail or hand delivery. The
Public Affairs staff will judge the
contest, and, therefore, are not
eligible to enter.
NCA team leaders
announced by school
The principals of A.T. Mahan Ele-
mentary and High Schools, James Rail
and Dr. William Murray, have announ-
ced the North Central Association
leaders for the team which will
be visiting the schools November
3 through 7. The six-member team
will be chaired by Dr. Robert Arm-
strong, a professor at Arizona State
Univeristy, and Floyd Winter, a
director of education at the Cedar
Falls Community School, Iowa.
North Central Association teams
are comprised of educators who com-
bine their talents in an effort to
help member schools study and ap-
praise the quality of their programs.
The other members of the team visit-
ing the A.T. Mahan Schools will be
chosen from other Department of De-
fense schools in Europe.
The North Central Association is
a voluntary league of some 4,300
schools and more than 750 colleges
and universities. The NCA works
with individual schools to improve
the quality of education through a
continuous process of evaluations
and accreditations.
