Numerous changes affect NBS Det 8 operations
There are several important changes oc-
curring with the Navy Broadcasting Service,
Det. 8, this week. Perhaps most signifi-
cant of all, and the one reaching the great-
est number of people, is the numerous
changes that are occuring in the television
programming schedule -- necessitated by the
change back to standard time in the United
States.
The change has meant numerous changes
for both Channel 4 and 6 programs. Some of
the most evident are the Saturday and Sun-
day sports; it now starts one hour later.
The following is a summary of other impor-
tant changes: Feedback, on Tuesday night,
will now air at 6:30 vice 7; live CNN Head-
line News will be on at 7, instead of 6;
ABC Nightline from 5:30-6:30 live, vice
6-7 tape delay; morning Headline News at
6:30; Entertainment This Week will move to
Sunday night; and 60 Minutes will be aired
one hour later on Monday night.
The examples are too numerous to mention
here, suffice to say that you should check
out this week's television schedule care-
fully for your favorite programs.
Two of the other changes occurring at
NBS this week concern 1485 radio. The new
quarterly radio schedule appears on page 5
of this edition. And effective October 31
the 1485 program Swap Shop, heard each week-
day at 12:30 p.m. will be making a change
for the better.
Announcements about items that NATO Base
personnel would like to buy, sell or trade
will no longer be taken over the phone live
but may be brought to the station or sent
via guard mail. Forms will be available at
NBS, Bldg. T-44, in the outer lobby, or may
be submitted neatly printed on plain paper.
Submissions will be aired as received for a
period of three days. Items sent through
Quarterly Radio Schedule........ Page 5

the mail need only be addressed "NBS."
If an item is sold and you wish the an-
nouncement cancelled before the three-day
period or you wish an item not sold, or you
desire to extend the announcement beyond the
three-day limit (in three-day increments),
call the station, at 4615, between 9-11,
Monday through Friday.
By doing this, a great many more items
can be aired of the show each day. You may
start to submit your announcements for the
new Swap and Shop Show beginning today.
Until the 31th, you may still call in when
the program is airing to have your items
announced.
In other NBS news, CW02 George M. Webb,
the current officer-in-charge, rotates to
the states on November 2. He will be going
to the Defense Information School at Fort
Benjamin Harrison, IN. J0CS Phil Galloway
will assume duties an the SCP0IC of the de-
tachment until the new 0IC arrives in the
spring.
