Reykjavík Grapevine - 15.08.2014, Side 55
Reykjavík Bacon Festival ISK Free! 14:00
Skólavörðustígur 5 (E5)
Bacon lovers, rejoice! Delicious bacon will
be flowing in the streets at the annual Bacon
Festival. First class dishes will be prepared by
the finest bacon chefs so you can gorge on
the greatest food ever made. There will also be
various events and live music on offer, all for
the honour and glory of bacon. If you’re worried
about keeling over from too much bacon (too
much bacon?! NEVER), worry not: much of the
proceeds will go towards the purchase of new
equipment for the Cardiology National Hospital.
Be sure to go the whole hog on this glorious
day. AH

Reykjavík Marathon 08:40
Starts at Tjörnin (E3) ISK Free!
When you wake up this morning and see the streets
swarming with people running, don’t start barricading the
doors and windows—the zombie apocalypse isn’t upon
us just yet, this is just the annual marathon. Participants
can run an easy 3K, a team-based relay, a rewarding 10K,
a grueling half marathon, or the full marathon that will
push runners to their limits. Those not athletic enough to
participate can still enjoy the event, sitting on the sideline
and munching on totally sweet nachos, watching the poor
sods push themselves over that finish line. AH
Krás Food Market ISK Free! 13:00-18:00
Fógetagarðurinn (D3)
Krás will be capping off what has been a
hugely successful addition to Reykjavík’s
weekend scene. Functioning as an outdoor
pop-up market, Krás offers drinks and freshly-
prepared street-food-style fare from favourites
such as Bergsson Mathús, KÖL, Gandhi, Bunk
Bar, RamenMomo, The CooCoo’s Nest, and
more. From food trucks to Reykjavík’s fanciest
restaurants, all pretensions are shed in an
effort cook you up a bite to enjoy standing up,
sitting down, or sprawled out on a blanket.
Head over and celebrate some of the best that
Reykjavík’s increasingly innovative food scene
has to offer. TC
