Using Open Street Map (OSM) data, the maps are meant to represent a view of the cities rather than try to capture the reality of them because cities are not static like maps but are continuously evolving over time. Runs until September 26 National Gallery of Iceland | Fríkirkjuvegur 7 (F3) Runs through August 31 | 10:00-17:00 | ISK Free! If there are 30 frames per second in a typical video recording, then each of Snorri’s one minute video portraits is worth 1,800,000 words, which in our opinion is more than adequate for an accurate portrait. And Snorri has done 50 of these one-minute gems, so think of all the metaphorical words you could be taking in at his exhibition in the National Gallery’s cafe. If this very extended and confusing metaphor hasn’t convinced you to go, just take a look at the picture up top and let those thousand (or four thousand, however you look at it) convince you. RSL They Say A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words Snorri Ásmundsson: 50 Video Portraits All along Skólavörðustígur (F5) August 15 to 31 | ISK Free! In Sisimut, Greenland, dogsleds are a common means of transportation. The villagers build their sleds according to ancient tradition, hunt reindeer in the mountains and compete in cross- country skiing on a 160 km long track. Baldur Kristjánsson's photo exhibition focuses on how an Icelandic family copes with being dropped into such an isolated community of hunters on the Arctic Circle. The exhibit is displayed all along Skólavörðustígur.
