l
to icy road conditions, this vehicle overturned on the Air Tower Access Road last Friday night when its driver tried to slow down for
>proaching snow plow. According to MAC Frank Cherry, Naval Air Station, Keflavfk's Assistant Security Officer, the car was travelling
%ximately 50-60 kph. "The vehicle slid roughly 32 feet on its side before hitting a snow bank and flipping to its top. The driver and
"passenger were both wearing seatbelts which probably saved their lives," said Cherry. The occupants were taken to U.S. Naval Hospital,
KeflavCk for observation, but no injuries were sustained. Cherry says motorists should slow down at least 10-15 kph during Travel Conditions
and use proper winter tires to ensure safer driving. In the past month, there have been 35 reported accidents on base.
