This issue’s picker is Snorri Ásmundsson, one of Iceland’s most
notorious artists. Snorri’s art is provocative, to say the least (he’s
still searching for a corpse for a long-time project of his, and selling
absolution to businessmen), and he presents his work—music and
art alike—all over the world. He’s also just released a new Christmas
album called ‘Jólasveit og Jóladís’, for which he's throwing an album
release party on December 12 at the National Gallery of Iceland. Snorri
describes himself as a bona fide citizen of the world, who follows his
muse from place to place; provocative, a typical Scorpio. He says his
dislike of crowds makes him not much of a concert-goer, but he’s drawn
to electronic and happy music.
You can find the events our picker of the issue found to be interesting
spread out over the music and art pages, marked with this icon.

The Reykjavík Grapevine
Issue 18 — 2015
The semi-annual Rokkjötnar festival has had a tough time of
2015. Earlier in the year, the festival booked a line-up of badass
bands and announced a much-talked-about show for September
5. Unfortunately, they had to cancel the whole shebang when
headliners Mastodon pulled out due to a pressing family matter.
Rejoice, rockers! After a little bit of reshuffling, the festival is on once
again, with Mastodon back on the bill and ready to rock alongside
formidable Icelandic metalheads like Vintage Carvan, Kontinuum,
Muck, Sólstafir, and more. Go ahead, buy your ticket and start
practicing your air guitar now. RTC
