Runs until January 31 Christmas programme 2015 The Árbær Open Air Museum continues Distorting the Self, Artfully ‘Blind Spot’ by Gregg Louis Hverfisgallerí Hverfisgata 4 (D4) | Until January 9 | Admission: Free This exhibit offers a different take on self-portraiture. Rather than displaying the artist through the lens of traditional beauty standards, ‘Blind Spot’ presents purposefully distorted images of artist Gregg Louis. The drawings were made blindly (i.e. from memory), hastily, in rapid succession and purposefully disfigured, making the exhibit a commentary on the role of memory in self-perception and iden- tity construction. The walls of the gallery itself become a canvas, as Gregg draws directly onto them, and the viewer is invited to enjoy the art in new and entertaining ways, perhaps reflecting on how they view themselves.
