Hugtakið b an ka ke rf i tekur til Seðlabankans, viðskiptabankanna (f töflu XIII—6 sést, hverjir
þeir eru), sparisjóða og innlánsdeilda kaupfélaga/the b ankin g system comprises the Central
Bank, the commercial banks (see them in table XIII—6), the savings banks and the savings depart-
ments of co-operatives.
Til inn lán sstofn an a heyra viðskiptabankar, sparisjóðir og innlánsdeildir kaupfélaga, en
ekki Seðlabankinn/deposit money banks are the commercial banks, the savings banks, the
savings departments of co-operatives, but not the Central Bank.
Til lanastofnana heyra allar stofnanir bankakerfisins og auk þess fjárfestingalánasjóðir og
lffeyrissjóðir/credit institutions are all institutions belonging to the bankingsystem, together
with investment credit funds and pension funds.
Veltiinnlán greinast f hlaupareikningsinnlán og innlán á sparisjóðsávfsanabókum. Spari-
innlán eru almennt sparisjóðsfé og fé bundið til ákveðins tfma eða með uppsögn/c he qu e de-
posits are current account deposits on the one hand and savings deposits withchequing facilities
on the other.Sa vings deposits are ordinary (payable on demand) on the one hand and time
deposits on the other.
Verðbréfaeign er jafnan talin fútlánum, nema hún sé tilgreind sérstaklega/bond holdings
are always included in credits, unless they are reported separately.
