Shoplifter
Hrafnhildur Árnadóttir, aka Shoplifter,
is a renowned Icelandic designer
and artist who uses brightly co-
loured hair fibres to create vivid, diz-
zying landscapes, or “hairscapes”.

Treasures of a Nation
This new long-term exhibit presents
a selected number of works from
1884 to 1911 of mostly Danish and
Scandinavian artists.

Dr. Selma Jónsdóttir: A Centennial
Dr. Selma Jónsdóttir was the first
director of the National Gallery of
Iceland. This small exhibit commem-
orates her centennial.

Comparative Vandalism
In the late 1950s, Asger Jom began
working on an encyclopaedia cover-
ing Nordic folk art titled ‘Scandi-
navian Institute of Comparative
Vandalism.’ Tens of thousands of the
photos for this project ended up
unused—come see them here.

EINAR JÓNSSON MUSEUM
Permanent Exhibition
The museum contains close to
300 artworks including a beautiful
garden with 26 bronze casts of the
artist’s sculptures.

“Rat Race” by Haraldur Ingi Haralds-
son
Haraldur presents 19 paintings in-
spired by politics and the addiction
to power.

Pierre Coulibeuf is an avant-garde

Sugar Paper Theories
The Geirfinnur case captivated
Iceland. Here, dive into the evidence
with Jack Latham, who photo-
graphed the places and people
involved. The exhibit also contains
forensic police photos and written
accounts from the psychologist
who freed the innocents convicted.

Kjarval – Key Works
Kjarvalsstaðir was actually named
after the artist Jóhannes Sveinsson
Kjarval. This exhibit asks: Does the

own sake, in the hidden life within it,
in our potential for utilisation, or in
the transience?

A retrospective of the work of artist
Anna Líndal, Expedition, spans Anna's
career of almost thirty years.

Colonists Of Fire And Ice
Without its ethereal fields of moss,
the county of Iceland would be
rather barren. Here, watercolourist

Sequences Arts Festival
October 6-15, Various Venues
Set your alarm for
Sequences. This
ten-day event
aims to ‘produce
and present pro-
gressive visual
art with special
focus on time-
based mediums,
such as perfor-
mance, sonic
works, video and
public interven-
tions.’ Its latest
incarnation,
“Sequences VIII:
Elastic Hours,” fo-
cuses on how the
term “real time”
can be applied to
the experience
of making art,
exploring how
artists can use
time itself as a
raw material. With
Icelandic and
international art-
ists, Sequences
VIII looks beyond
the clocks and
investigates al-
ternative systems
for measuring
time—perhaps
especially perti-
nent to Iceland-
ers due to the
country’s strange
and unusual day-
light hours; the
most traditional
timekeeper of all.
